ABOUT

Hacksaw Gaming usually builds slots around themes nobody else dares to touch, so Dandy Diamonds is a real change of direction. This one trades concept for casino-floor flash, bright lights, gemstones and a deliberately retro feel, with no lore to unpick or world to explore. Built on a 5x5 grid with 19 paylines, it's powered by a multiplier wild engine that locks sticky at the right moments, with Bolt symbols layered in to drive those multipliers higher.

It runs a 96.33% RTP, medium volatility and a 5,000x max win. Diamonds, crowns and cherries make up the cast, a back-to-basics build for players who want their slots straightforward rather than layered.

Betting Options and Bonus Features

Worth a word on the look first. Dandy Diamonds is Hacksaw at its most pared-back, glowing pinks and purples behind a chrome play area, a set of 10-A royals, limes, dice, cherries, crowns and stars, and a loungey jazz track ticking along underneath. It's not the studio's most inspired work and it isn't trying to be; this is a knowing throwback to classic fruit-machine sparkle rather than another high-concept world.

The engine is what carries it. It all revolves around the Diamond, wild, worth 20x for 5, and carrying an additive multiplier anywhere from x2 to x100. Whenever one lands it kicks off a Dandy Respin, a hold-and-win sequence that pays after every respin, and any diamond multipliers feeding the same win are totted up together before they boost it. Stack 4 or more diamonds into a square and they merge into a Colossal Diamond, folding every multiplier into a single block that keeps growing as more diamonds land alongside it.

Then come the Bolt symbols, the piece that separates this from the standard multiplier-wild formula. A regular Bolt fires inside a 3x3 zone around a Diamond or Colossal Diamond, tacking an extra x2 to x20 onto the multipliers in that square before the win settles. The Epic Bolt ignores the zone entirely and hits every diamond on screen with the same boost. Just one of each can appear per spin, but when both turn up the numbers can leap.

The bonus side climbs through three tiers:

  • Diamond in the Rough: 3 scatters award 10 free spins with diamonds dropping more often.
  • Play with Safire: 4 scatters give 10 spins where diamonds lock sticky and multipliers run progressive.
  • Ice and Shine: the hidden top round at 5 scatters, taking Safire's rules and adding a 3x3 Colossal Diamond on the opening spin.

Not in the mood to wait? Four buys open up the action directly:

  • BonusHunt FeatureSpins (3x): makes every spin 5x more likely to trigger a bonus.
  • Glamour FeatureSpins (50x): guarantees at least four Diamond symbols land.
  • Diamond in the Rough (50x): drops you straight into the standard 10-spin bonus.
  • Play with Safire (200x): buys the sticky-diamond round with progressive multipliers.

Roshtein’s Take

I'll be straight with you, Dandy Diamonds isn't built to blow the roof off, and the 5,000x cap tells you that upfront. This isn't a slot I'm chasing a life-changer on. But taken for what it is, there's plenty to like.

The diamond-and-Bolt combo is smarter than the plain theme lets on, and watching Colossal Diamonds pool multipliers in the sticky bonus is properly satisfying. Medium volatility is the real selling point here, it doesn't bleed you dry between features the way my usual high volatility rotation does, so sessions stay comfortable. Play with Safire is the round I'd target; sticky diamonds and progressive multipliers are where the value sits. Not a monster, but a clean, well-built spin. Sometimes that's enough.
